Reflexology for Bereavement & Loss in Roscam

Navigating Grief

At Roscam Reflexology, I firmly believe that Reflexology can help us navigate through this extremely challenging and sad time in our lives. Having realised that most of the clients that I have connected with through Reflexology and my Wellbeing Workshops have experienced bereavement or a loss of some type, I went in search of a more specific treatment to help support them.

My search led me to the wonderful Reflexologist and Holistic Life Coach Regina Curley in Dublin. Regina is a very experienced therapist and teacher and I completed her ‘Hands on Masters’ Advanced Reflexology for Bereavement & Loss Workshop, which was specifically designed for therapists like myself to help our clients deal with grief and loss. This specific treatment offers heartwarming, nurturing support during this challenging time for those experiencing loss.

We will all unfortunately experience the loss of a loved one at some point in our lives. Normally this follows the natural order of the life cycle, losing a grandparent or parent usually being our first experience of grief. However, tragedies occur and many people have lost their babies through miscarriage, birth or cot death. Some have sadly lost their children, siblings, partners, friends or colleagues.

Loss isn’t always about losing a loved one either. We can find ourselves grieving the loss of a relationship, a marriage, a job, a career or a way of life. These feelings of grief can be similar to losing a loved one but may not be recognised as such. Sometimes making this more difficult to endure if these feelings persist for a long time.

How Reflexology Can Support your Grief & Loss
  • Anxiety: Grief can create feelings of fear leading to anxiety. Reflexology can help reduce anxiety, promoting a sense of calm and emotional balance.

  • Sleep Issues: Many people find that their sleep is affected after a loss. African Reflexology offers deep relaxation that can improve sleep quality.

  • Anger: Anger is a perfectly normal response to grief and can result in irritability. The gentle touch of Reflexology can help release anger and balance our moods, fostering emotional Well-Being.

  • Fatigue: Grief is exhausting. It’s constantly on your mind whilst also trying to function in your everyday life. Reflexology provides deep relaxation, which can combat fatigue and restore energy levels.

  • Depression: If unprocessed, grief in some people may develop into Depression. Reflexology may aid in managing symptoms of depression, offering emotional support during this transitional period.
Benefits of Reflexology for Those Grieving

Reflexology for Bereavement & Loss offers a specific treatment that targets where we store our grief in our bodies, which is in our heart space and our lungs. These techniques were taught to me by the wonderful Regina Curley in her ‘Hands on Masters’ Advanced Reflexology for Bereavement & Loss Workshop.

  • Honouring the Heart Method: This is a specific gentle Reflexology technique that works on soothing and nurturing each part of the heart centre allowing the heartspace to open up and the grief to release and promote healing.

  • Working the Lung Area: Those grieving often talk about a physical pain in their chest or lungs relating to their loss. This specific technique gently invites the lungs to release the emotions they are ready to let go of and allow healing to begin.

  • The Chi Nudge: This technique moves the ‘Chi’ or ‘Energy’ that may be stuck in the lungs. This is a deeply nourishing and relaxing feeling for the client.

  • Recover the Sweetness Technique: Clients who are grief stricken can very often lose the ‘sweetness’ or joy in their life. This technique works the pancreas to allow any built up resentment from the loss to return to sweetness and joy in their lives.

  • The Compassion Technique: This is an extremely soothing and gentle movement over the heartspace which leaves the client feeling nurtured and loved.

At Roscam Reflexology, I have had personal experience of grief and loss in my own life and understand the unique challenges that each different type of loss can bring. My goal is to create a soothing and supportive environment, offering you a positive Reflexology experience tailored to your specific needs. I’m here to help you navigate this time in your life with comfort and Well-Being in mind.
